The site has been assessed against the Council’s 17 sustainability appraisal objectives. The Sustainability Appraisal ‘status’ of SE/126 refers to the site as ‘Alternative.’ It is not clear what the meaning of ‘alternative’ is in this context. Given that the Draft Local Plan falls significantly short of meeting the identified housing requirement, due to the lack of inclusion of a 35% uplift, The Local Plan needs to identify a significant amount of additional sites. Site SE/126 is a suitable ‘alternative’ site that should be identified and included as an allocation.

The scoring of SE/126 against the SA objectives includes the majority of positive scores, including major positive effects against the social cohesion, health, and education objectives. In particular the site scores positively against the socio-economic themed objectives and the location of the site in relation to transport links, educational facilities and employment areas. This is reflective of the accessibility of the site to numerous services and facilities, as well as the proximity of the site to a bus priority corridor (A641).
