I have no problem with this other than to raise the concern that I feel that the village amenities are insufficient to cater for increased residency.
I would hate to see happen what has happened there since my childhood ,with dense populations and the demise of many green spaces. The impact is evident there with the joining up of towns and congestion with car use having a significant adverse effect on the environment. Addingham has historical interest and character but is already suffering from the volume of care ownership and use with subsequent congestion.

AD8/H Church St/Main St – This is a Brownfield site. It is acceptable for housing subject to:
• an ecological survey to identify & mitigate any environmental impacts identified; and
• the retention of mature trees along the boundary, especially the trees along the front of the plot that contribute to the local street character and those to the rear (west) of the site that form the boundary with the newly planted hedge in Hofmann Wood Field.

Of all the sites in the proposed plan for Addingham, this is the one which would have my full support. It is brownfield, and from an access point of view is the least disruptive to village life. It would have my full support if this was to be turned over for housing purposes.

We would be in favour of developing the land owned by Bradford Council near the cricket nets, again this will keep traffic on the periphery of the village and gives homeowners easy access to A65.

While I accept that this site has now become an eyesore which does not enhance the approach to the village I believe that 8 houses is far too many for this plot.
Any development needs to be in keeping with the surrounding area and I don't believe this would be the case if 8 houses were allowed.
I suspect they would be 3 storey in order to squeeze so many in and that is not what that area needs.
Any plans should be very carefully considered before allowing this site to be developed and it should provide an inviting and positive impression at the entrance to our historic village.

This site is on level ground a short walk from the centre of the village. This would make it easy for new residents to engage in village life. A car would not be essential making this a more sustainable site than many others in the proposed plan.

I feel that this site could be appropriately redeveloped and it has previously had accommodation on it. It is well hidden and would not distract from the village. I do feel that 8 houses is ambitious and development should be restricted to sustain the trees and wildlife that inhabit that space. Considerations should be given to this being a environmental development.

Respondent: Ilkley Clean River Group
Ilkley Clean River Group (ICRG) object to this plan because of the adverse impact the new houses and supporting infrastructure will have on river water quality.
The combined sewage and drainage system is already overwhelmed and these new buildings will directly lead to a degradation in water quality through more unauthorised sewage discharges directly into the river in Ilkley.
The Addingham at Low Mill CSO flows directly into a dry stream which is already a health hazard and the sewage from these additional houses will make that worse.
SuDS mitigation plans for run-off water in neighbouring Ilkley have been shown to be inadequate as there is currently a challenge on the adequacy of these plans at the new Moss & Moor Garden Centre.
Note: the Addingham sewage system runs into the Ilkley sewage system (which is already overwhelmed) so we also object to the plans for new houses in Ilkley.
