Representation Summary:

It’s been an eyesore for ages, land owners should not be rewarded for deliberately neglecting land. But on balance it’s best to develop.

Representation Summary:

Apart from the seventeenth century Hollin Hall (hidden behind trees), immediately to the west, there is currently no ribbon development on the north side of Skipton Rd/A65 until after Victoria Avenue. Developing this site would then put pressure on these intervening roadside open fields which currently have significant landscape value in opening up the country views towards Addingham and the Dales.

Representation Summary:

Greenbelt land should be protected, especially on the perimeter of the town.
Skipton Road is often congested with tailbacks at peak times extending back as far as the Addingham turnoff on the A65. Any development that increases traffic will exacerbate this problem.
Development will result int he loss of habitat for wildlife and plants.

I support development here. The site is currently an eye sore and a small, well designed development could enhance this entrance to Ilkley

Representation Summary:

While I believe that the area definitely needs tidying to make a better image of Ilkley, I cannot believe that this land, given how steep it is is really suitable to build housing. Had consideration been given to the feild beyond dale view / Beverly rise? This is a much larger area, much more accessible. It would seem to make more sense to have a larger development this side, given that the primary school in the area has just been expended.

I support the proposals in this area because the current site is an eyesore - I would like to ask why it has been left in this state for so long, and more importantly, have chemicals been used to maintain the land in such a bare state - it appears to have been treated to stop vegetation growing, an action which would have been detrimental to natural wildlife and ecology. Please can you confirm whether this is the case.

The ground may be green belt by designation, but it has long been scrubby and bare of vegetation. I do not belive that housing on this site would be of detriment to the ecology of the town nor local wildlife.

Representation Summary:

I cannot see how it will be possible to fit twenty dwellings into this site. They must be very dense, cheap boxes. Is this exactly the sort of development that this gateway to the town needs? No. As the site is over a mile from the centre of Ilkley each will probably use a car into town. There is no mention of road improvement to accommodate it along Skipton Road into the bottle neck of Church St. Beyond the travel where will they park? The town already suffers with parking problems despite recent alterations and the introduction of parking fees. Egress onto the overloaded A65 will be a nightmare.

To create 300 extra houses in Ilkley, without improving local transport and local facilities is a mistake. Ilkley already has insufficient parking to support commuters and the roads through the town are already overcrowded. 300 extra houses will be 300 extra cars.

You are killing our planet by eating into our greenbelt. You are eroding the charm of our town by taking away its natural, beautiful surrounds.

Our infrastructure is struggling. Growing the town with more houses for more people is not the answer.

Local residents can attest to the frequency of these flood events. With climate change a real threat it seems inappropriate to build on Greenbelt land that is currently acting as a natural defence. This is encroaching on the greenbelt area and is over-development of a site of this size.
Will lead to increased traffic congestion and accidents on the A65.

This development is right on the already overly congested A65 with no by-pass in sight. A further 20 dwellings will produce yet another 20 or more vehicles trying to exit onto A65 and adding to the already appalling traffic flow through the town. Are you trying to join Ilkley up with Addingham with no space between the two towns?

Representation Summary:

Building on Green Belt land is in contravention to the Government’s aims and objectives.
The NPPF demands that there should be “exceptional circumstances” before Green Belt boundaries can be changed and states that inappropriate development is harmful to the Green Belt and should be approved only in “very special circumstances”. These circumstances do not apply here. BDMC has not shown that Ilkley's housing needs warrant releasing greenbelt land in accordance with the NPPF requirements , nor that it has considered appropriate alternatives . Ilkley is a cash cow for BDMC and is yet again being milked for the benefit of other districts . It is an tourist spot because of its green belt surroundings , and BDMC's proposals will damage this and promote a dangerous precedent

I understand Ilkley has to have more houses and although this is in the green belt it has been developed in the past and can hardly be described as unspoilt, as it has previously been used when the railway went through to Skipton.
To be honest I can not understand why it has not been developed before and the size of the development proposed would not impact significnatly on Ilkley's infrastructure.

Representation Summary:

This site is particularly badly located. The main Skipton road is extremely busy with incoming traffic into Ilkley regularly backed up to the proposed site entrance(s) and beyond. This will create significant problems for traffic leaving the site to go towards Addingham (as well as holding up traffic exiting Ilkley) because incoming traffic is often stationary at this point. Car user leaving Ilkley turning right to enter the site will also cause ridiculous further congestion for other road users. I could not think of a much worse location for causing traffic congestion and delay on this already very busy road. I strongly object to this site.

no justification in your documents that support development in the Green Belt. What is the point of having a Green Belt if you just ignore it and support development on it?
