Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Representation ID: 2537

Received: 20/03/2021

Respondent: Mr Peter Down

Representation Summary:

Whilst I agree with much of the proposed Policy CO2, I must object on the grounds of several items within it. City of Bradford MDC has a track record of allowing community assets and facilities to be converted to other uses resulting in a loss to the community it previously served. The lack of economic viability cited by the Developer has often not been sufficiently challenged. Public houses are a typical example of such community assets and provide places for people (including those that live alone) to meet and as places to hold social functions. Many support local charities and community events. The policy should be re-worded to provide stronger protection to community assets, such as pubs, with a default position of retaining and enhancing these. The Policy also needs to more clearly recognise the need to promote, retain and enhance facilities within Local Centres and Rural Areas.

Representation Summary:

The Trust is supportive of the plan's approach to the protection of community and cultural facilities which will include its theatres and performance venues of which there are numerous; it is reflective of the need to guard against loss set out in paragraph 92 of the NPPF (2019).

Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Representation ID: 3718

Received: 23/03/2021

Respondent: Mr Philip Sutcliffe

Representation Summary:

he green belt was set up to stop urban expansion. In the case of
Bradford, to stop it becoming part of Leeds. Bradford planning office
being completely undemocratic wishes to pour cement and tarmac all
over the green belt in Tong. The reason I say undemocratic is as
follows. ~There has not been one survey, or opinion poll taken in
Bradford, which agrees with Bradford councils views on building on
green belt. In fact approx 90 % of population of Bradford totally
disagree with Bradford councils housing and road plans. However, the council which claims
represents the people is acting like a fascist state.

Your new road and housing plans directly effect my Grade II house and
land. However, you have not had the decency to contact me over the
last 10 years. I doubt you care less about me than the environment and
the creatures that need it.

Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Representation ID: 19691

Received: 24/03/2021

Respondent: Sport England

Representation Summary:

Village and community halls are the smallest buildings that can accommodate a sports programme alongside the customary social and arts pursuits. There are a wide variety of types and sizes, all with the following in common – a main activity and assembly space together with ancillary accommodation that might include additional small halls.

Sport England has produced guidance on this and it can be viewed on this link: https://sportengland-production-files.s3.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com/s3fs-public/village-and-community-halls.pdf?NwtRYNuZMMWC5n9LvP_lB4RZ5DNeVUL7

The policy should be amended to include and recognise the sporting use of village halls.

Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Representation ID: 29648

Received: 14/03/2021

Respondent: Cullingworth Parish Council

Representation Summary:

Since 2013 Cullingworth has witnessed an exponential increase in its housing stock by a further 306 homes, (some still in the process of being built and occupied), with the consequential extra burden placed on the infrastructure of the village.

We refer to item 4.47 – CO2: Community and Health Facilities. We are very concerned that the existing infrastructure will not have the capacity to cope with even more increased development over the next few years and we request assurances that improvements to the infrastructure of our village will be aligned with current and future development as stated in 5.19.27.
