Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Representation ID: 15415

Received: 19/03/2021

Respondent: Highways England (Yorkshire & North East Team)

Representation Summary:

Bradford City Centre is located approximately 2 miles from the SRN, namely M606 Junction 3.
In broad terms, locating development within the various areas / quarters within the City Centre is the most appropriate location to locate development as it is the most sustainable location in terms of proximity to transport hubs and networks.
Furthermore, on their own, it is not considered that individual sites will have a severe impact on the capacity, operation and safety of the SRN, and this will be identified through the transport evidence base being prepared by the Council / the individual assessment of
the transport implications of the sites by the sites’ promoters.
However, the quantum of sites forms part of a wider cumulative impact within the City Centre area that could severely impact the SRN, and this cumulative impact will need to be established by the Council and considered by Highways England.

Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Representation ID: 29096

Received: 29/03/2021

Respondent: Historic England

Representation Summary:

We welcome (para5.1.22) to the significant investment that has already been made in the city centre public realm over the past ten years and to plans for further major public realm schemes for the city centre in the future. Where appropriate, Historic England would welcome involvement in defining these proposals.
Whilst we support the key strategic growth direction which encourages the sensitive integration of new housing growth within Little Germany with strong connectivity to the existing built form, this stipulation should also be extended to development proposals within the Cathedral Quarter.
Local Plan Strategy and Plan – Forster Square, Little Germany and Cathedral Quarter, amend the second key strategic growth direction as follows:
‘The sensitive integration of new housing growth within Little Germany and the Cathedral Quarter with strong connectivity to the existing built form.’
