Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Representation ID: 1183

Received: 10/03/2021

Respondent: Ms Caroline Blount-Shah

Representation Summary:

The council should value and save the green belt land, and this section of the proposed house-building site is next to a quiet public riverside footpath route between Saltaire and Bingley which is valued by local walkers. The mixed habitat provides hedgerows and trees for local wildlife, agricultural land and green countryside views from the Cemetery and Branksome Drive. The mature trees provide help to absorb the noise and air pollution from the dual carriageway (A650). The proposed houses if built, will put good drainage at risk, and so increase the likelihood of flooding in the vicinity and further downstream in Shipley and along the Aire Valley. There is likely to be a great increase in private car use and other vehicle traffic along the along the A650, as Public transport links are not developed enough to ensure most new residents will choose public transport over private car use.
