Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Respondent: Mr Christopher Parrish

Representation Summary:

I would like to object to the proposed further usage of green belt land surrounding Eldwick as per site references B14/H and B18/H (land west of Heights Lane) for housing development. The village of Eldwick has changed in character enormously over recent years with green belt land near Eldwick primary school given over to extensive development and the roads in particular have been unable to cope with increased traffic volumes. Pulling out onto, or trying to cross Otley Road can be extremely hazardous nowadays. The proposed development would be inappropriate for the rural lane and the site and would further exacerbate the traffic issues. It is also too close to the important Prince of Wales Park site which is an important local amenity and wildlife haven. It would be better to focus development on brown field sites rather than continue to erode the valuable green belt land around the village.
