Oakworth is unable to support the proposed 95 residential units due to existing infrastructure pressures on Oakworth Primary School/Beckfoot Oakbank, health services at Oakworth Medical Centre, insufficient safe parking around the village particularly near the shops, bottlenecks in traffic flow (impact on climate change, road safety, traffic delays), potential for a further 190 vehicles to be around the village if these developments go ahead. Oakworth is already at full capacity. Housing targets could be met by developing more brownfield sites in more central urban locations.
