Ilkley has few large green spaces remaining and the fields on the outskirts of the town provide a much needed rural boundary that preserves the towns identity. 155 dwellings in this area would change the landscape of Ben Rhydding dramatically, putting additional pressure on local services and fundamentally altering the way that the town operates.
