Within the Plan’s settlement hierarchy, Addingham is categorised as a local Service Centre, which is quite-obviously the correct designation. Local Service Centres, as defined in the Draft Plan, are expected to take – quote - “a reduced scale of growth, compared with urban areas” (para.3.3.11).

This is, quite-obviously because they are less sustainable, and thus less suitable, locations for much new housing development. Furthermore, the supply of potential development land, on sites in Addingham which would not lead to adverse environmental impacts, is very limited
