Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Representation ID: 26738

Received: 24/03/2021

Respondent: Kerry Fowler

Representation Summary:

Green Belt exceptional circumstances not demonstrated, no appreciation of cultural, historical, recreational or environmental aspects.

No consideration of the pandemic effects and Brexit. 2021 census should inform future planning policy.

No information provided on road impact. It is inconsistent with the Council’s climate emergency declaration. Concern it will release further development sites, increase air pollution and traffic.

Area provides access to green space for walking, running, cycling, riding etc. Its development will impact health.

Area is biodiverse and home to hundreds of threatened species. No assessment of the environmental impact of development, especially on ancient woodland. Building in it would be an ecological disaster.

Development will lead to flooding further down the valley. Flood risk assessment is vital.

Would be helpful to consider:

• Alternative traffic calming measures on Westgate Hill e.g speed bumps
• Diverting HGVs and altering A651 junction from traffic lights to a roundabout
• More suitable crossings on Westgate Hill
• Litter dropping signs/bins
• Additional tree planting to reduce pollution
• Smoke control area to improve air quality
