Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Representation ID: 28583

Received: 24/03/2021

Respondent: Baildon Town Council

Representation Summary:

 CYCLE USE: Increasing use of cycles is a must and is also Government policy, so Investment in cycle lanes and tracks along West Lane and through Baildon into Saltaire and Shipley would pay huge dividends in the long run. At the moment with congested roads cyclists simply do not feel safe on the roads and will not allow their children to cycle to school because of the dangers. Great thought must be put into creative ways to reduce cars and increase cycle opportunities.

 PUBLIC TRANSPORT: This must be part of an environmentally friendly local plan and investment in bus and train services will be critical in meeting carbon emissions targets. Bus services along West Lane should be at least 3 per hour during peak times reducing to 2 per hour, down to Baildon Station and Shipley. Train services from Baildon should also increase to 3 per hour as a minimum during peak times.
