Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Representation ID: 3364

Received: 22/03/2021

Respondent: Mrs Jennifer Netherwood

Representation Summary:

I am objecting to the proposed development. The site is currently designated as Green Belt, where (NPPF 145) 'A local planning Authority should regard the construction of new building as inappropriate'. Green Belt is there to prevent neighbouring towns merging and to check unrestricted sprawl. Allowing this site to be built on removes the delineation between Shipley and Cottingley, and sets a dangerous precedent for other developments on Green Belt. Building on this site would lead to loss of wildlife habitats, loss of agricultural land and potentially add to the risk of flooding. The local road system is already congested, without the extra vehicles a new development would add. Poorer air quality, noise and light pollution would affect the human and wildlife populations already established in the area.
