Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Representation ID: 3649

Received: 23/03/2021

Respondent: Mrs Alison Weston

Representation Summary:

There is a disproportionately higher number of new houses proposed for the East compared to the West of Ilkley - 91% of the proposed 314 new houses are to be in Ben Rhydding.

Ben Rhydding has a village feel about it with its own row of shops, school, pub and 2 churches - this will be lost with the addition of 285 new houses.

There will be significant traffic generation from the proposed new houses in Ben Rhydding for Ilkley amenities to be accessed with attendant highway safety and parking issues.

There is already far less parking available at Ben Rhydding railway station compared to Ilkley rail station which will be significantly worse with the proposed new houses. Strathmore Road already has problems with cars parking for the train at Ben Rhydding affecting cars turning, refuse collection and large van deliveries in the road.

Ilkley Grammar school already full!
