Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Representation ID: 4084

Received: 23/03/2021

Respondent: Mr David Ryan

Representation Summary:

The constraints affecting the site outweigh the proposed benefits. A new access at the A650 roundabout will not sustain both 1000+ houses and vehicle movements for a c.10ha industrial site, and the current road infrastructure cannot otherwise support this. There is also the loss of a current business to account for, as well as the potential adverse effect on Tong Garden Centre.

Given there appears to be ample opportunity either side of the A650, and in particular near the existing industrial site, this site being removed from the green belt for industrial development is unacceptable. Greater focus should be placed on ‘in filling’ land near existing sites or improving use of derelict sites, and vastly improving transport links to these so that local residents without cars can commute to them.
