Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Respondent: Mr Nicholas Graham

Representation Summary:

My primary concerns with the proposed development are as follows
- Loss of habitat including grassland, meadows, hedgerows , trees and water courses
- Loss of community identity including the elimination of the green barrier between Burley and Ilkley
- Questionable benefit of the loss of green belt for the number of houses
- Ben Rhydding is highly congested at the junction of Wheatley Grove and Bolling Road which is increased by the single lane traffic lights at the railway bridge.

Overall the proposed development will diminish one Ilkley's main attractions consisting of the views towards and from the Cow and Calf rocks which attracts many visitors to the area. I would much prefer for sustainable development to be carried out on brownfield sites that does not detrimentally impact people's enjoyment of the countryside.
