Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Representation ID: 5643

Received: 24/03/2021

Respondent: Mr Richard Powne

Representation Summary:

No reason to build on precious Green Belt land when many Brownfield sites are available across Bradford District

Adverse impact on special character of Ilkley

Ribbon development along A65 - loss of demarcation between Ilkley and Burley-in-Wharfedale, given the proposed developments in Burley and Addingham. Could lead to creation of “Wharfedale corridor”

Coutances Way, gateway into Ilkley, will be severely impacted

Flood risk already significant (3 major sites in flood zones 2 and 3) - land often under water, especially after heavy rain

Already overburdened infrastructure in Ilkley (shops, medical, schools) - doubtful it will be able to cope

Secondary schooling in Ilkley already at capacity - no provision for any more

Adverse impacts on habitat of local wildlife

Adverse impact on road safety (eg Wheatley Road train bridge) and pressure on transport links

Sewage sites already unable to cope with demand and regularly overflow
