The Greenbelt, once built upon can never be reclaimed. we need to preserve it for future generations to enjoy. It is not in our remit to destroy it forever for short term gain. There are plenty of brownfield sites that can be developed for housing.
Burley cannot cope with more houses. The infrastructure is already at capacity, schools, transport links, doctors etc
Any developments between Ilkley and Burley are just urban sprawl/ribbon development which erode the individual identity of both places and will ultimately result in one long development along the A65
