Ilkley's infrastructure is already stretched - schooling, transport and services are not adequate to provide to even more housing in the area. This is an area that local residents and visitors use at weekends and holidays, it often floods and is opposite the historic Old Bridge. The council introduced a parking scheme in Ilkley because of the issues related to parking - this is one of the worst effected areas and adding yet more housing would just exacerbate the issue.
