Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Representation ID: 6187

Received: 09/03/2021

Respondent: Stephen Shaw

Representation Summary:

•Loss of habitat - the area includes TPO woodland which is very important to local wildlife. Building would potentially upset the ecological balance.
•Loss of natural views - the impressive views of open countryside down Meadowside Road would be ruined. The area is well used by walkers and would be negatively affected.
•Traffic volumes - Langley Lane and the surrounding roads already get congested, particularly around school opening/closing times. The road at times becomes entirely gridlocked/inaccessible. Potential danger of emergency services being unable to access houses, school and amenities in the area during these times.
•Air pollution - the congestion on these roads is also bad for air pollution and goes against Bradford Council's commitment to cleaner air.
•There are many Brownfield sites in the nearby area. The Apperley Bridge/Esholt Former YW treatment works is a huge site that is lying unloved that could surely be used as an alternative.
