Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Representation ID: 879

Received: 07/03/2021

Respondent: Dr Steven Maude

Representation Summary:

As a local resident, I strongly object to SH4/H.

The SH4/H proposal represents a large increase in dwellings relative to the area's size, especially with other nearby Nab Wood and Cottingley proposals. This will:

* Increase traffic volume where the roads, used as cut-through, are already busy at peak times, despite existing traffic calming measures;
* Cause increased stress on local health care and education providers that are already stretched, while neglecting to consider these issues;
* Have a negative environmental impact, due to loss of green belt land and wildlife, could lead to water quality issues and flooding in nearby water courses due to the development, and likely result in increased air and noise pollution due to extra traffic.

Furthermore, SH4/H houses will likely not solve the housing problem for first-time buyers, or those on lower incomes, as houses will likely be priced in keeping with the area.
