Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Representation ID: 8862

Received: 15/03/2021

Respondent: Lisa Robinson

Representation Summary:

Moss Carr Road area cannot and should not support 142 new houses.

Access - Moss Carr Road is very busy with parked vehicles and effectively one-way. Additional houses (sites KY18/H & KY19/H) will create unacceptable congestion. Queried where people will park and whether the road can handle additional vehicles.

Park Lane Bridge - Already has huge amounts of traffic. Requirements years ago that development in Long Lee had to tackle this problem, but nothing has been done.

Amenities - No capacity to support new homes.

Green Belt - Site is Green Belt and should be protected , not destroyed. Also a natural habitat for birds

Need to consider:

- Loss of Greenfield sites

- Site elevation and steep gradient towards town

- Flooding including previous events and loss of natural soakaways if sites are built on.

- Traffic safety,

- Infrastructure, traffic & drainage impacts.

- Impact on deprivation and few amenities

- Impact from new Aldi/Drive Through coffee shop

- Road safety and poor drainage were previously grounds for refusal.

Surface water and drainage problems need resolving

Rethink plan to preserve Long Lee/Moss Carr Road, habitats and avoid area becoming congested suburb.
