Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Representation ID: 9553

Received: 14/03/2021

Respondent: Mrs Rachel Middleton

Representation Summary:

•Land is designated as Green Belt to prevent urban sprawl. No evidence provided to show “exceptional circumstances” for removal of Green Belt.
•Proposal is not “sound” under NPPF. There are many alternative non-Green Belt sites in the Baildon area which have not been considered.
•Developments will generate considerable traffic on West Lane, Lucy Hall Drive etc. Road has poor visibility and pavements of limited width, risking pedestrians and motorists.
•Development will not meet environmental objective of enhance the environment and valued landscapes.
•Development will increase pollution and pluvial flooding.
•Development close to the moors will inhibit and reduce the environment that supports local wildlife.
•Council is part of the WYCA review. This is likely to result in further parcels of non-green belt land becoming available. There is no need to remove the fields from the Green Belt to meet housing targets.
