Object to Council’s approach to green space and green belt surrounding Burley in Wharfedale.
Appalled at decision to proceed with Sun Lane development. Area is a natural haven for wildlife, which will be lost to the community. Damage to infrastructure will be immense. More people, cars, pollution, noise, strain on rail and bus services but less school places, medical support, parking at the train station to name a few.
Village is already stretched - two housing estates have been built with a mill conversion under construction, and now new proposals to build more homes on Green Belt. Wonder what the point is of Green Belt when it can be swallowed up and over-ride what was once sacrosanct, untouchable and extremely precious to local communities.
A village is a rural community, not a town. Burley will be another commuter town joined by housing and sandwiched between Menston & Ben Rhydding, then Ilkley.
