Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Representation ID: 2225

Respondent: Mrs Catherine Cheater

Representation Summary:

The removal of the rail link between Ilkley - Addingham - Skipton needs to be reversed. It might never be possible to rebuild the rail link (cost of removing what has been built on), but no more former track bed or potential off-road rail/tram access must be built on. The most likely that we could achieve is a tramlink partly on-road and mainly off-road, to link Ilkley with Addingham, Bolton Abbey, Draughton, Embsay and Skipton, and also more directly to Keighley. Parking problems in Ilkley are bad because people need to drive to link with the rail. To re-establish an off-road link would reduce emissions, reduce road congestion, and reduce parking problems. Building more houses here will increase emission, road congestion and parking problems. Buses are not an alternative, as they are slow, and get caught up in the congestion that we already have. We need an off-road solution.
