Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Representation ID: 29098

Received: 29/03/2021

Respondent: Historic England

Representation Summary:

The masterplans must cover landscape and heritage
considerations. The urban extension at Holme Wood lies extremely close to the north-western edge of the Registered Battlefield at
Adwalton. It could also result in harm to the setting of a
number of Listed Buildings in its vicinity including the Grade II* Listed Ryecroft Hall. If there have been any significant changes to the sites circumstances or the development proposed is significantly different (e.g. in terms of land use, density, scale, developable area etc.), the Council should update the Heritage Impact Assessment as part of the Evidence Base to the emerging Local Plan. Whilst it is recognised that this area will be important to meet the future housing requirements of Bradford, the Plan should be seeking to ensure that it is developed in a manner which safeguards those elements which contribute to the significance of the designated historic assets in its vicinity.

Add the following additional text - ‘Growth at Holme Wood will be delivered in a manner which safeguards the character and setting of the Registered Battlefield at
Adwalton and the other designated heritage assets in its vicinity.’
