e welcome the plan’s Strategic Objectives as set out at Section 2.13 which include a range of that includes a range of goals relating to the protection, enhancement and improvement of the District’s natural assets. Natural England advise that this approach could be made more robust by the inclusion of references to “restoration” where appropriate, and would also like to see these objectives being measured by specific targets.

Similarly, item 16 of the Strategic Objectives could be also strengthened as follows:
16. Ensure that new development provides a biodiversity net-gain, and safeguards, restores, and enhances the District’s biodiversity assets through careful landscape, woodland and waterways management. In particular the South Pennine Moors and upland fringe.
