Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Representation ID: 2990

Received: 21/03/2021

Respondent: Mrs Elizabeth Williams

Representation Summary:

Habitat loss is evident, particularly mature trees with associated fauna. Habitat preservation and enhancement should be the focus, not removal for housing. The plans offer no consideration of the climate and biodiversity crisis. Schools in the area are lacking. Already congested traffic would be congested further with solutions encroaching further on verges. Construction activities alone threaten integrity of water sources (run off), air quality, wildlife habitat integrity. Estimates on flood risk appear unrealistic, considering recent flooding trends. '100 year events' are now known to occur much more often - 6-10 years in some cases, if not more frequently - with no indication that this will abate and most likely to become worse. Areas such as this represent valuable natural flood mitigation if left undeveloped.
