Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Representation Summary:

My children attend Cottingley Village School, and I am concerned about the impact this development would have on traffic in the local area. The roads are already gridlocked at drop-off and pick-up times, and 155 new houses will significantly worsen this situation. The school is already over-subscribed, and this development would put yet more pressure on places. It is widely accepted that we are currently in a climate emergency, with urban sprawl being a major cause. All of our green areas are of vital importance, and I passionately believe that efforts should be put into reusing brownfield sites and derelict buildings before areas like this. Bradford city council needs to be more ambitious and forward thinking, e.g many more residential schemes in the city centre (especially now that shopping habits have changed and so many shops now stand vacant), rather than concreting over our greenbelt land.
