I recommend that this policy should include reference to the importance, and great value to be derived, from working with the community and voluntary (ie third) sector, especially to ensure diverse groups are involved and local voices heard in co-creating change. It should also recognise that through engaging communities in the range of work mentioned (e.g. environmental projects, sustainable transport development, local regeneration) it produces greater social value, community cohesion and equality benefits, as well as more sustainable forms of development.
