Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Respondent: Mr Thomas Simcock

Representation Summary:

I regularly use the footpath that runs through the site for the purposes of exercise and enjoyment of the countryside. Local green space is vital for people’s physical and mental wellbeing and this will be significantly reduced by this development.

Developing this site will also have a negative impact on wildlife, for example I regularly see starlings feeding in the fields and the mature trees will host a range of wildlife.

This development lies within the Green Belt, which is supposed to check the sprawl of built-up areas. The National Planning Policy Framework states that the essential characteristics of Green Belts are their openness and their permanence. This development would be to the detriment of all of that.

I am also concerned that there will be an increased flood risk and a lot of extra traffic which will increase air pollution. Local roads already become very congested at peak times.
