In 2015 a Government Inspector overturned several Council refusals to build on Idle Moor; citing harm to the environment and lack of schools amongst other reasons, he still sided with the developer. This caused a very long period of misery for locals with a daily procession of HGVs carrying concrete to the site, given its poor stability.
Now we see surveyors on the next field. Much has been made of the value of green space in the pandemic and the need to build back on brownfield land. Equally, the plane suggests the requirements of Bradford East are broadly in place so there is no need for this field to be lost.
