Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Representation ID: 5362

Received: 24/03/2021

Respondent: Mrs Andrea Kitchen

Representation Summary:

It is a green belt site. Lapwings nest here. Deer and hare often seen. This area often floods - water often flows onto Marchcote Lane like a river. Proposed development would create a rat run through Cottingley. Lysander way junctions with Cottingley Moor Road by Cottingley Village Primary which at peak times is already very congested. A previously traffic free route for children walking/ cycling to school would be lost despite the council policy encouraging this as healthy. Already there is journey time of over 40 minutes approx 9 miles an hour to Bradford City Centre, longer for public transport which is often cancelled due to traffic congestion. More cars would exacerbate this.Several developments have been granted recently in the nearby area eg Hallmark and at Sandy Lane. There has also been brownfield development in Cottingley on Hopehill Avenue so the need for more housing in Cottingley is questionable.
