Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Representation Summary:

I am writing to object most strongly to the proposed development of 24 houses on designated village green space in Oxenhope at the bottom of Cross Lane. This development is completely out of keeping with the Oxenhope Station Conservation area, and represents a considerable threat to the wildlife that uses the corridor running down from stairs, through the green space and on down the Goit. The loss of natural habitat there would be a disaster for an area that sees a range of wildlife (including deer) and birdlife (Raptors and migrating species). Once gone, this green space and habitat is irreplaceable.

It's also a development on a flood plain, which seems absolutely wrong-headed at a time of increasing flood risk. It makes no meaningful contribution to the shortage of affordable housing, and places increased pressure on Oxenhope challenged road infrastructure and services.
