If the provision of new housing is so desperate, surely there are derelict sites which could benefit from recovery and provision of smart new housing, rather than threatening wildlife, flood damage to existing properties, increased traffic flow, shortage of school places and GP access, and other local services such as shopping. (Since the last new housing project it's difficult to find parking spaces now). What could be the exceptional circumstances that make it necessary to invade our Green Belt in view of the general desecration of the planet?
