•The parking, congestion and terrible traffic problems moving out of the village into Bradford and Leeds with be further impacted by the building of even more houses.
•The loss of greenbelt and additional problems caused cannot possibly be outweighed by the benefit of cramming in a few more houses in that area. For sure the pricing for the developer will be extremely attractive but return on investment for the community must surely be considered.
•Why can Bradford council not prioritise brownfield sites to meet housing demand before utilising the greenbelt.

West Lane is already like a race track, with no regard for speed limits, and we feel this would become gridlocked at certain times of the day.
Both sites are green belts and it would be sad for those to disappear.
The increase in population would surely put pressure on local schools , extremely busy at school times on West Lane now, but could the school cope with increased numbers of children.
The medical centres would also have a much greater work load , to the detriment of existing patients.
We do appreciate that people need homes, but would these sites really be the best.

We’ve not been able to visit this site (BA5/H) ourselves but it has been brought to our attention based on the concerns from local groups. In addition to our comments on SP5, we would object to this site allocation. The site BA5/H has been identified to be highly accessible to services and within sustainable transport modes, specifically Baildon train station at 800m walk away. However, the site is located adjacent to a TPO tree and an area of TPO woodland. Removing this part of the green belt which has a large potential for landscape impact, is of concern, and developing low density housing on it would be a very unsustainable outcome for the site.

The Council have not produced evidence to demonstrate “exceptional circumstances” why the fields have to be removed from Green Belt. Unless they do, the fields should stay as Green Belt.
The Council’s proposal is not “sound” as per the requirements of the NPPF (Feb 2019). There are alternative (non-Green Belt) sites in the area which have not been taken into consideration in the proposal. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic there could be viable alternatives, like commercial premises that could be repurposed.
Development of the fields will generate considerable traffic on a lane with poor visibility, pavements of limited width and thus generate considerable risks to the lives and health of pedestrians and motorists.
The development of the fields will increase pollution. Being close to the Moors will inhibit / reduce the environment that supports local wildlife including deer, birds and bats

Building on a greenfield site is inexcusable - this is the last green space left on West Lane. Brownfield sites should always be the first option.
Loss of hedges, trees and natural habitat for wildlife.
Adverse impact on protected trees on the site.
Effect on ground stability and drainage for the area.
Additional stress on infrastructure and public services such as drainage, water and power supplies, waste disposal, schools, roads and parking etc.
Increased noise by construction traffic and potential future commuter traffic on West Lane and more importantly through Sandal School 20mph zone.
Following the recent Honey Pot Lane development adjacent to the proposed site we need to protect our greenbelt for future generations and avoid urban sprawl.

•All brownfield sites should be used first before Greenfield sites. Few sites in Baildon but there are sites in Shipley which would provide the same benefits. These are likely to be better distributed and situated for transport, amenities, schools.
•Public transport is poor. Development will increase number of cars. Traffic is already at high levels and difficult to access the village at peak time. Existing residents will suffer from the dangers, noise and pollution.
•Site rises steeply. Development will have dreadful impact on views of existing residents. Risk of sprawl and impact on openness. Also will be visible from Saltaire WHS.
•Development likely to increase risk of local flooding of existing houses on West Lane.

Families use and enjoy the green belt.
These spaces have been important to the health & well being of families and residents of Baildon, also, to other persons that live close.
Continued over-development of the village, now a town.
Only one main road out of the town to Bradford.
Impact on daily commute to work & school.
Impact on schools- Sandal primary school oversubscribed.
West Lane sites provide water/ drainage from the moors,finding a natural course way.
Development needs to provide proper drainage.
Drainage issues with the Honey Pot lane development.
Climate change & the environmental impact the new houses.
We should care for the green belt and allow nature to thrive, for future generations.
People still want to live in Baildon, without hundreds more houses being built.

I write to strongly object to the building of housing on the stretch of GREEN BELT land on West Lane, between Honey Pot Lane and Dene Hill.
I hope that brown field sites can be found/allocated instead of using this delightful, valued green belt area.
Not only does it bring much pleasure to all who use West Lane, if housing were to be built there it would severely impact the level of traffic travelling from the village towards the Glen, negatively impacting the air quality and noise pollution of the area.
The services surrounding (especially the schools) cannot support further housing and a denser population in this small area.
It would be a disgrace to build on such beautiful land and I will continue to object to all proposals of this kind.

This last year has taught everyone the value of open green spaces for our health and wellbeing. These two proposed sites are the only green spaces left along West Lane that haven't already been built upon. If these open spaces were to be lost it would have a negative impact on the quality of life of local people, including myself. Baildon is (normally) extremely busy traffic wise and the proposed building of more houses would increase traffic to unacceptable levels. Also, there would be an increase in light pollution and noise pollution and it will cause a loss of habitat for local wildlife.

These sites are on green belt land, which provides good views and openness along the road (West Lane) we use to travel to and from our house.
We feel it is very short-sighted to sacrifice green belt land to satisfy short term building needs, thereby ruining the rural character of the area forever. Baildon at present is a good mix of built up and open spaces and this plan would severely impair the remaining open space which we all enjoy.
Reconsider this plan and find suitable brownfield sites for this development.

These fields are special to Baildon and visitors that walk up and down West Lane, over the glen/moors admiring these beautiful meadows that stretch to the moors & trig points.
Generations of children have looked at the lambs & the wildlife & learned to appreciate these areas of green belt - and help people feel a sense of peace with nature is such a simple thing, you can't put a value on it.
Home to many kinds of wildlife including bats, buzzards, owls, red kites, deer.
The fields provide a welcome break between dense housing areas.
The infrastructure cannot support more houses, cars & people.
Lave the environment alone
The fields represent the character/essence of Baildon.
The Green Belt is being sold off. Its a disaster for the residents and environment.
Loss of natural beauty
I'd like my grandchildren in years to come to look at the sheep and appreciate the beauty.
Don't let this land be developed.

Concerned by the lack of protection to the green belt, ancient woodland (protected by TPO) and the use of land which has a history of flooding.
Concerns regarding section 5.8.33. Here it is mentioned that the four Baildon primary schools are under capacity. By what extent? Detail is not provided. I would regard this as both an oversight and essential information considering the claimed major positive effect on the education SA objective for these proposed development areas.

Whilst I understand the pressure to develop land for housing, I believe that more brownfield sites will become available once the effects of the Covid pandemic have been fully realised. Also, the document states that these sites have the potential to deliver a major positive effect for residents on the education SA Objective. This is only the case if there is ample existing provision. Currently there is not.

•Countryside is valuable resource. Should not be developed to meet government housing targets.

•Schools and Doctors in Baildon are both at capacity. Other local service are being removed (library).
•Roads already struggle with high traffic volumes. Road network into and out of Baildon is completely congested. Can take 50 minutes to travel between Baildon and Bradford in rush hour.

•Should make use of area with better transport links.
•All new housing should be built with solar panels
•Cheap housing is not environmentally friendly

There is already a significant stretch of local resources at the top of Baildon.
The overall environment in terms of green spaces has been drastically eroded over the years leading to pollution, reduced habitat for farm animals and wildlife, dangerously busy roads, oversubscribed local schools - the list is endless.

- The land is designated as green belt and currently used for agricultural purposes.
- The development would reduce natural absorbing run off of water from the moors, exacerbating the problem of water management and flood control. These two sites are very boggy to begin with due to the natural springs issuing from them, resulting in localised flooding and the drains struggling to cope at times.
- increased volume of traffic it would bring to West Lane, adding to the congestion. Access to public transport is limited - the majority of commuters depending upon private transport.

I am concerned about the proposal to build houses on green belt land off West Lane. The fields are a joy to see as is the wildlife that inhabits them (Hares, pheasant, deer, also the sheep and cattle that graze there. I am also concerned about infrastructure as there is only one way in and out of Baildon - each house that is built will have at least two cars! Drainage will need to improve as water from the moors runs down onto woodland off Stubbings road Baildon. We do not have enough facilities in Baildon to cope with the demands of extra people. Dr's surgery would be stretched plus Dentists and schools. Please reconsider this proposal.
