Draft Bradford District Local Plan - Preferred Options (Regulation 18) February 2021

Representation ID: 2362

Received: 19/03/2021

Respondent: Mrs Donna Tattersall

Representation Summary:

Land at Queensbury Golf Course should be allocated for housing development. The site is in a sustainable location, near to local shops, schools, amenities, facilities and a bus stop, as well as directly abutting a proposal allocation QB4/H. There is no difference in the location and sustainability of the golf course site and the QB4/H.
The Town Centre High Street, Tesco Store and associated bus services to Bradford and Halifax are all less than a 10 minute walk away at approximately 600m to the north. A local parade of shops is also within 250m to the north. Schools and medical centres are available within less than a 20 minute walk at 1.2km away. There is also a bus stop located directly outside of the site for those that are less mobile and may require assistance to get to the town centre. I am in favour of selling.

Representation Summary:

I believe the land at Queensbury Golf Club should be chosen for housing development. The site would be sustainable from the existing infrastructure of shops, such as Tesco, schools and public transport, to both Halifax and Bradford. and would supplement QB4/H, being directly adjacent to that area. It would seem to me to be a preferable site to QB7/H Old Guy Road/Fleet Lane due to easy access to the services mentioned.

I believe the proposal for development of Queensbury Golf Course should proceed. The site is close to all amenities within Queensbury & has good road networks & site access would be no problem . The current site is close to a recently developed housing site & adjacent to a proposal QB4/H. The site itself is not visible from the main road & would cause no visual problem. Current site is private for members only.

Local Plan Team Comment - this appears top be a duplicate rep relating to support for the allocation of land at Queensbury Golf Course.

We are desperately short of housing in the area and this site is a perfect location, it is near all amenities who would benefit greatly from the influx of more families in the area. The infrastructure can withstand the development of more houses and this is a more suitable site than Fleet Lane.

Bradford is short of housing and Queensbury Golf club is an ideal site for building, it's close to all amenities that are within walking distance who would benefit greatly from the custom of more families living in the area, the access is much better than the Fleet Lane site and there would be far less congestion.

Representation Summary:

The land at Queensbury Golf Course should be allocated for housing development.
Access to the site would be from Brighouse and Denholme Road which is a wide road with ample footpaths at either side. Queensbury Golf Course should not be classed as public open space, and is available for development and therefore should be considered for Green Belt release as the current strategy does not achieve the number of houses required by the government's Local Housing Need.
The site is close to local schools, shops, medical centres and a local Supermarket and is also on a main bus route to the Town centre. Indeed there is a bus stop directly opposite Queensbury Golf Course. Also there are bus services to Bradford and Halifax nearby.
The Queensbury Golf Club site is suitable and available and is the best location for housing development on a significant basis which is required in Queensbury.
