SW10/H - Stocks Lane, Old Dolphin, Clayton Heights

This site is on Green Belt land, is in an area with a large number of listed heritage buildings and is too close to the Primary School directly opposite and a large well-used park with sports facilities next to the school.
Stocks Lane is a very narrow road which is noted in the document. It also provides vehicle and pedestrian access to Stocks Lane Primary School which is a significant safety concern given its size. Traffic calming measures would help with vehicle access but would not solve issues for pedestrians as the road is not wide enough for a suitable footpath.

I object to the two proposed sites between Honey Pot Lane and Dene Hill, Baildon, as I feel it is essential that brownfield sites should be given priority and not green field.
A proposal to build on these sites would greatly increase the amount of traffic which is already grid-locked in the area due to the fact that whilst building over many years
there has never been any improvement to infrastructure. On land at the back of Stubbings Road there has been recent severe flooding which has gone as far as Shipley Glen Tramway so any more building will create more water but where will it go?
The greenbelt area is used by masses of walkers, both local and visitors, and it is essential that everyone can enjoy the scenery whilst at the same having essential exercise for their well-being.

Meadowside, Baildon
Any additional housing in this area would create unbelievable traffic problems as this proposal is extremely close to Baildon Primary School where it is currently chaotic when the school is open as cars are parked on both sides of the road and in certain places it is only possible for single file traffic. The safety of primary school children has to be considered.

Consultation Question 130

Received: 22/03/2021

Consultation
The current consultation is being held online only as we are currently in a covid19 lockdown period. This means many people are being disenfranchised from the process who don’t have online access or skills to use it. Normally such an important consultation would have face to face sessions in community spaces and libraries where people could view the plans the provide feedback.
The Conservative Group formally submitted a council motion to extend the consultation period after the Local Election period when community buildings and libraries will reopen so face to face consultation events could be held. However, despite support from both the Liberal Democrats and Green Party the Labour Councillors voted against giving residents any more consultation opportunities face to face.

Green Belt
In general, the green belt should not be included for development. Its purpose is to prevent urban sprawl by keeping land open. Green Belt should only be developed under “exceptional circumstances” and this plan does not demonstrate exceptional circumstances. Brownfield sites should be exhausted first and empty homes brought back into use.

Haworth and Cross Roads
The Haworth sites include sites in Cross Roads which is a separate village. It has caused many local complaints that the two individual villages have been grouped as Haworth. If they are to be listed together they should be referred to as sites in Haworth and Cross Roads.
Treetops Children’s Centre is no-longer open and the building is now part of the primary school so this needs removing from the Local Plan information.
Tourism is a major factor for Haworth with the heritage of the village being protected. The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway (KWVR) runs through the village and is a key tourist draw. Impact of the KWVR needs factoring into any development.
