Baildon Neighbourhood Plan (2026-2040)

Ends on 30th September 2026 (39 days remaining)

Introduction from the Chair

Dear resident,

Baildon Neighbourhood Plan is the result of more than 5 years of detailed work, involving many hundreds of people, partners and agencies. There have been three separate consultations in Baildon, in 2022, 2024 and 2025. The aim of all this effort is to formulate a 15 year spatial plan - 2026 to 2040 - which seeks to protect the many positive features and essential character of Baildon, whilst not being a straitjacket on future developments and improvements. We are grateful to everyone who has made a contribution during this lengthy process and I want to particularly thank the NDP Working Group ( listed below) for their dedication and support as we worked together to make this Plan the best that it could be.

Once completed the Baildon Neighbourhood Plan (NP) will form an important element of the overall development framework for the Bradford District. Hence it will guide decisions made by Bradford Council on planning applications in our locality over this period – from major schemes through to small changes to residential properties. Many neighbouring areas have already completed their Neighbourhood Development Plans, and it is important that Baildon does too, so that we can bring the very local dimension into planning decisions.

Before our Baildon NP is finally adopted there will, by law, be a referendum where you will be asked to support the completed plan.

We think Baildon is a special place, and accordingly, this plan has a strong focus on seeking to maintain the character of Baildon which we want future generations to enjoy. Our Vision for Baildon does not advocate for a major regeneration scheme, new developments or other radical change. At its heart, the Vision for Baildon seeks to support positive development whilst preserving things we hold precious.

This is a long document as there is so much we have to cover. Thank you so much for taking the time to engage with this process. With your help we can make this a recognised and strategic document to guide Baildon over the years to come.
