Children play regularly here and would have nowhere else to play. Many dwellings in the neighbourhood have no gardens and the local parks are a long way away involving main road crossings. My son loves using this green space regularly with his cousins who live there.

Too near Saltaire world heritage site
Roads already busy and extra traffic would be a hazard to residents
Unsuitable slopping site

Being a local resident at Wycliffe gardens, this green space is an integral part of my estate and local community . It is also home to an abundance of wildlife, (including bats) and is used extensively by local children and families alike for recreation purposes, providing essential exercise opportunities and much need outdoor green space.

Wycliffe Green Space
This is valued open space used by the whole community. Government and local policies show that recreation open space like this is supposed to be protected.
We will lose the benefits of our community’s local green space.
Children play regularly here and would have nowhere else to play. Many dwellings in the neighbourhood have no gardens and the local parks are a long way away involving main road crossings.
It's used for sport/exercise.
It's used for dog walking.
Green space helps protect us against local air pollution problems.
People travel via the green to work, or to the local nurseries and schools.
We are already an area that has been shown to be deprived of green space.
It was landscaped for recreation in the 1960s and is needed now just the same.
Generations of families have used this space and we need to protect it

Children play regularly here and would have nowhere else to play. Many dwellings in the neighbourhood have no gardens and the local parks are a long way away involving main road crossings, Children have suffered mentally and physically during the Covid -19 pandemic being locked inside , without being able to travel far and not accessing school and nurseries for weeks and months at a time ( in which they would play outside at lunch / playtime’s and do physical education) - the benefits of fresh air and exercise are proven by medical professionals to help mental health and should not be taken away so lightly, especially when many children are living in the flats so do not have a private garden , equally many older generations have been shielding /not seen family or friends , not leaving their homes - removing the green communal space would impact them too.

My sister's and my cousin's families live in the local area and use the green space of Wycliffe Gardens (as it's known locally) for children to play on, for exercise and as a pleasant green space to sit in. In an area with either paved gardens or no gardens at all, this local oasis of green is of vital importance to the community and the next nearest park is at some distance.
Green space such as that of Wycliffe Gardens is a buffer against air pollution problems and constructing houses there will remove this protection as well as worsening air quality during construction and potentially after if there is an increase in car ownership numbers. Just because a place isn't designated "Greenbelt" doesn't mean it isn't important environmentally.
For the sake of fulfilling housing quotas, there are better, less community-vital areas which can be used.
Thank you.

Like many in the area I do not have a garden and this is where I go to get a breath of fresh air, this is especially true in the summer months and during lockdown having this space has meant a lot to us.
This space is very important for recreation and has a good view. Without this space It provides people with open space nearby facilitating independence and is a good place to sit and enjoy the view.

The proposal to change the green belt boundary is not in line with the National Planning Policy Framework which states greenbelt boundaries should only be altered in exceptional circumstances - available brownfield sites must be considered first and there is a need to promote sustainable patterns of development if green belt land is released. The Council needs to allocate housing to more brownfield sites across the Local Plan area (such as at Valley Road) instead of releasing greenbelt land.
This site is not sustainable due to the following negative environmental impacts. All are strong reasons to oppose this allocation:
Loss of mature trees and woodland
Impact on water quality
Flood risk will increase downhill from the site.
Air pollution and noise from additional cars
Loss of local greenspace that is important to residents’ wellbeing
Schools already oversubscribed
Poor access to public transport (poor bus service) and local shops and services

I object to housing being built on this area because it is a change of use from recreational to housing. It is a recreational area which our family uses every day. We walk our dog there once or twice a day, our kids play their in the warmer months and sledge there in the winter months. I don't want to lose this recreational area.

Generations of families have used this green space and it needs to be protected for future generations so why destroy the play and recreation space for the sake of meeting only 5% of the Shipley quota of new housing.

Generally I am surprised how many proposed dwelling sites are close to the A650, known to be a highly polluted corridor within the bradford districe. With respect to the proposed Wycliffe development in particular it is a green area which I use to walk my dog and to play with my kids. I think local green spaces are so important, regardless of access to more formal green areas.

One thing the pandemic has taught us is the absolute necessity of green spaces for our mental health. We need preserve what we have. We need this for all who live locally and use this for our well-being.
We need opportunities for recreation which this area provides
Inevitably any housing development will bring in more cars - and the area is already highly polluted with significant traffic all day long on both sides of this space.

This is important green space for residents in a densely populated area - many of whom have no gardens or just small back yards. We use it to exercise, sit in the sun, walk dogs, let children run around or just enjoy nature. I've seen over 30 different types of birds on the green and there are mature beech and cherry trees on the sides. The pandemic has shown us that local green space is vitally important to people's wellbeing. and the green space has been a lifeline to many of us during lockdown as it has been over the years to many residents.
Without local green spaces people will get in their cars and drive to exercise, walk dogs etc which will add yet more pollution to roads which are well-known for being some of the worst in the district.

My son regularly plays on this greenspace, as do many other local children. It forms an essential part of his outdoor activities. Its location is ideal for accessing quickly, to the extent that if it was not there he would just end up staying inside on occasions where there isn't lots of time to travel to other greenspaces. It is a safe location for young children to play, being surrounded by many young families to look out for them, hence I have never seen any trouble or undesirable elements of society here. Also the fact that traffic is relatively quiet increases safety for small children; this would not necessarily be the case if 44 extra houses were built here. There look to be alternative locations with much larger capacity (and without the steep gradient) for potential housing developments under consideration in the surrounding area, so why not use them instead?

Taking away the green communal areas of Wycliffe Gardens to create a concrete jungle would take away areas that for generations children have played out on. Families have congregated for picnics and social get togethers (in times when it has been permitted), and it would be a great shame and a great loss to the community to lose this.

We object to the proposal to build on this space because children will lose the only viable space to play on. This recreation space is the only green space which is livery nearby and provides an ideal place to walk, relax and admire the views across the valley in the warm summer months.
I can't imagine the dangers that construction equipment will pose to young children and the increased traffic which will result both during construction and the vehicles owned by future residents.
Will you take the word "Gardens" out of our street name since our green space will be parcelled out into 44 tiny plots for new homeowners to enjoy at our expense.
One can't help feeling that someone in authority is pushing for this plan in the hope that the Covid 19 pandemic will distract people from taking note and making their objections known...

The area provides important green amenity space for the local community. The land has been used as local green space since 1960s. There are far reaching views across the area towards Salts Mill and beyond. Views and light at existing properties on Wycliffe Road could be poorly affected by the development. The land includes former quarry area and a steep slope. No assessment into the viability of development on former infilled land (potentially contaminated/harmful landfill) has been made, or for development on a steep slope. The site is identified for 44 homes it is not clear on which parts of the site the housing will be built to ensure continued provision of green space, biodiversity net gain, and safeguarding of the important heritage views.

I strongly object to the building of new houses on the greenfield land. It will have a very negative impact on the environment and the local community. The access to the site is poor, parking is already exceptionally difficult for customers using the shops/businesses at the top of Kirkgate now. If parking is to be reduced further it would significantly impact upon the number of customers using local businesses in a time when they have already been hard hit by Covid restrictions. The proposed location is on the edge of a World heritage site and this will significantly have a negative impact on the historic village of Saltaire with more people living in the area creating more traffic, pollution and reducing the green spaces for people to use for recreation.

The green space near Wycliffe Road is essential for leisure and recreation. The surrounding area is busy and polluted due to many roads. Wycliffe CE Primary use the land for their Sports Day. It is a meeting place and an important space for nature and wildlife. There is nowhere else nearby for children to run around and enjoy the natural world safely.

I object to developing SH3/H and believe it should be designated as amenity green space. The land is used for a variety of recreation purposes and has been for over 50 years. The council’s own policies indicate that land previously identified as Recreation Open Space, like this, should be protected from development; they also show the benefits of such space to the community, especially for those dwellings nearby without gardens. Shipley already has a deficiency of this kind of space, which would be exacerbated by development. None of the exceptions for removing green space in the Local Plan applies to this site or to a proposed development of it.

The green area at Wycliffe (SH3/H) is necessary for recreation, as many houses in the area don't have back gardens. During lockdown, it's become clear that our green areas around our homes are vital for relaxation, fitness and play areas for children. This is the only green area near these existing homes that doesn't have to be accessed by busy main roads, so it's beneficial for children and families.

this green space is close to a range of terrace houses and flats, these properties do not have gardens and this is the closest green space for familes and individuals to sit, play or relax.
Familes with children over the age of approx 7 can allow them to play on this area in the confidence that the site is close to their own homes and the children are safe. The play area on Baker Street is too far for children on their own to go and there is a busy road to cross. The busy road scenerio also applies to Northcliffe park and Hirstwood are too far for children to travel to on their own.

This space is precious to the children who live in the surrounding houses - many of whom do not have a garden of their own. It provides a breath of fresh air between the business and pollution of Bingley Road and Saltaire Road. This space is needed not only for the surrounding residents, but to keep the sense of countryside in Shipley. Please don't turn our town into a concrete jungle
